They are best friends often found snuggling or nesting together in their foster home. While they are not necessarily snuggly with humans, they are looking for someone who will enjoy their company without wanting petable/huggable companion felines. Che is a four-year-old hunk of a long, sleek, male tabby with enormous soulful eyes and a big presence who loves to lounge on the sofa or hang out on the cat tree. He has ... (Read More)a super-mellow nature, and avoids confrontation from other cats. He's really just a big teddy bear that wants nothing more than a peaceful life. He loves food; whenever he hears a can being opened in the morning and evening, he pads to the kitchen and lies patiently by the door to make sure he's not forgotten (as if!). Kate is a 10-year-old petite female tabby with an endearing pixie face and the cutest white socks. Kate is coming out of her shell more each day and likes to explore her surroundings. She enjoys hanging out on the sofa grooming Che; she's a cougar! I understand from their foster mom that when an annoying photographer is not around, they are completely relaxed and happy. These two are well-mannered in the home, use their litter box and scratching posts like good kitties. They get along with other felines in the home. And, while they are not currently living with dogs, they'd probably be fine with a dog that didn't chase them. Kate and Che are not at all aggressive with people, or with other cats. When nervous, they retreat or hide rather than scratch or bite. They are neutered/spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped and virus-tested. Kate had a dental and only has about three teeth left. Their adoption fee of $75 as a pair benefits the rescued pets of Azrael's Place. To meet and possibly adopt Kate and Che, please contact Lana at azraelsplace@hotmail.com or 708-218-4501. This duo is currently being fostered in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood. (Less)

Turkish Van Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Not Good with Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Please Share '| Chicago, IL - Adopt Tigger Skeets the Front-Declawed Bi-Eyed Cat Tigger Skeets is a roly poly, 18-pound, 13-year-old, male front-declawed Van Pattern cat with one blue eye and one gold eye looking for a loving guardian. Tigger was found inside a Calumet City trailer when his 65-year-old human mom passed away. He was living with another cat and a rabbit. The other cat has recently found a wonderful new home, and sadly, the rabbit had already died when his mom went into the hospital and no one was caring for her pets. When I brought Tigger home, the poor guy was in mourning for his mom. He just laid in a litter box ... (Read More)howling sadly for three days without eating or drinking. Luckily he bounced back after that. Tigger has adjusted to living with my other cats, but he could just as happily be the one and only cat in your life. He really doesn't like my dogs at all. And, I think he's just fine with rabbits. Tigger loves people so much that he rubs up against you and follows you around lovingly chatting the whole time. When you love on him, he rolls on his back for a tummy rub. He can only take so much tummy rubbing so you have to watch out for a little nip. Tigger uses his litter box perfectly like a good boy. Due to his roly-poly-ness, he certainly doesn't get up on your countertops. But, he does enjoy joining you in bed for snuggling if he has some pet steps to help him climb. Tigger is a healthy senior, neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, virus-tested and he even had blood-work and a urinalysis done. His adoption fee of $50 benefits rescued pets. He is currently living with me in Chicago's Andersonville neighborhood. To meet and possibly adopt Tigger, please contact me at sheri@petraits.com or 773-777-2891l (Less)

Petey is a very friendly, sweet, playful and lovable three-year-old, 64-pound, male, black and white Boxer/American Bulldog-mix with warm brown eyes looking for a loving guardian. Petey is great with people of all ages - including small children. He's relaxed and not at all hyper or jumpy. He's wonderful in the home and leans against you lovingly. He is a homebody who loves being with his people. He loves a fenced-in yard, enjoys playing with his toys and is perfectly housebroken. Petey is extremely responsive to his people. He is well-trained and knows the commands sit and stay. His favorite treats are bananas and apples; his foster ... (Read More)family likes to keep him healthy and he is very food-motivated. Currently being fostered in Chicago's South Loop neighborhood, Petey is just not a city guy. He is reactive on leash and nervous in the city. He'd rather have a yard of his own to run and play in and a more suburban neighborhood without all the noise and congestion. So he is looking for a home that definitely has a secure fenced-in yard. He is currently living in a foster home with another large dog. He is best with male dogs - especially labs and bully breeds who don't mind his rough manner of play. Petey has a strong prey drive so he's best in a home without cats, rabbits or other small pets. Domestic Cat    Age: Kitten

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Mango and Mustard are a pair of amazingly gorgeous, cuddly, playful and sweet, daddy and daughter tabbies looking for a loving guardian - preferably together. This pair was found stray and brought to Chicago Animal Care and Control. They were lucky to have found a wonderful foster home together to start their new life together. Handsome Mustard is guessed to be about two years old and his beautiful daughter Mango is guessed to be about seven months old. They both share the same bunny-soft fur which makes petting and cuddling so much fun. They also purr and purr which is so encouraging and sweet. They are well-behaved in the home and use ... (Read More)their litter box and scratching post like good kitties. They currently reside in the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago and live happily with three medium-sized dogs and one other cat. They love to spend their time entertaining each other and then resting on the windowsill or on your lap. Both kitties are very healthy, spayed/neutered, micro-chipped, up-to-date on vaccines, de-wormed and virus-tested. Their adoption fee of $95 each benefits the Friends of Chicago Animal Care and Control. To meet and possibly adopt Mustard and/or Mango, please contact Kirsten at ktour@hotmail.com or 773-263-3803. Their history '| Sadly, Mango and Mustard didn't start out life quite so happy. When they were brought to CACC, it was assumed it was a mom with her three tiny babies. They fed Mustard the adult assuming he was a mom nursing babies. However, it didn't occur to anyone that it was a dad with his young and incapable of nursing. The babies tried nursing and two babies died before Mango and Mustard were transferred to a foster home. Mango, the strongest baby survived 10 days at the shelter without eating. She made up for lost time by eating a lot in her foster home. However, she appeared to have an upper respiratory infection and went back to the vet repeatedly and was prescribed multiple antibiotics. Finally, she was brought to another vet who diagnosed her with a nasal polyp, a growth possibly due to a viral infection she picked up at the shelter. After surgery she is finally healthy and happy. She may always be small and kitten-ish looking due to her challenging kitten-hood. You may also notice that one of Mango's pupil's looks larger than the other. That is due to her recent surgery and may return to normal after healing. In any case, it does not in any way change her wonderfully happy quality of life. (Less)

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Cats, Not Good w/ Dogs, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Petra is a gorgeous, four-year-old, female brown and white classic tabby with golden eyes looking for a loving guardian. Petra was being fed outside and she was very consistent about showing up at the same place and same time every day. My friend told me about what he thought was a pregnant cat. Turned out she is just well-fed! I went to meet her and took her home (in a trap). When I brought her in to get spayed, I found that she had trapped a couple times before ... so she had already been spayed and micro-chipped. So, I got her vaccines up-dated, and had her re-checked for viruses, and treated for fleas and worms. Petra doesn't have ... (Read More)much use for humans. She likes when they keep her well-fed ... she loves her canned food. And she's very neat and tidy and uses her litter box perfectly. She does enjoy the company of other cats and hangs out with them happily in my house ... until I come in the room. And, then she darts back to her cat tree to hide. It's a bit insulting, but I think a patient cat-loving person can bring her around to appreciating humans a bit more. Why would someone take in a semi-feral cat? She'll live longer in the great indoors, she is a good friend to my other cats, and she's a no-bother kind of girl ... clean and neat. And, she's a challenge for those that enjoy socializing shy cats. Pit Bull Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Blind

Thunder is a mellow and sweet, six-year-old, 60-pound, male, glossy black and white Lab/Pit-mix looking for a loving guardian. Thunder was rescued from the pound in Gary, Indiana. He had a bump on his head, and an injury to one of his rear legs. It's guessed that he had been hit by a car. Thunder can't see that well; he has 15% vision in one eye and 6% vision in the other. Since he's almost blind, it's not surprising that he is easily startled by someone sneaking up on him. But amazingly, he still loves to play fetch. He will listen for the ball to bounce and go in that direction. He's also quite the lap dog and loves to cuddle. Thunder ... (Read More)is living in a foster home where he has proven great with dogs of all sizes as well as cats. He is not crazy about overly playful dogs. But, he is great with a dominant male German Shepherd that typically does not like other males, but he accepts Thunder into his pack. Because of his vision problems, Thunder sometimes bumps into other dogs or lands on them if he jumps down off of a bed or couch. Most dogs are understanding of his clumsiness, but some dogs may not be. He is great with people of all ages including children, however toys on the floor are confusing to him as he memorizes his environment so he can get around. When he goes to a new foster home, he immediately tries to figure out the path to the door and has been housebroken wherever he goes when taken out regularly. He is also crate-trained. He is great on leash, at the vet and in the car. He is full of tail wags and kisses for the people he loves. He knows the command sit and does so automatically when he smells a treat or hears the crinkle of a treat bag. He is food-motivated and takes treats gently from your fingers. He's looking for a quiet home where someone can keep him on a solid routine. Thunder is neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm-tested and on preventative.
