German Shepherd    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Abused/Neglected

Splinter is a ten-year-old, 80-pound, male German Shepherd looking for a loving guardian. 'This boy might very well be the sweetest animal on the face of this earth' '| at least that's what his foster mom says '| and quite honestly, that was my opinion too upon meeting him back in June and again in September. He has not had an easy life and the fact that he harbors no ill will towards humans is proof of his incredibly forgiving nature. Splinter lived on the end of a chain in Kentucky for his entire life. He was 20 minutes from being euthanized when Samantha of Chicago's Pal's Place Rescue agreed to take him on. She had no idea what bad ... (Read More)shape he was in when she committed to take him. Splinter had been surrendered by his family to be killed. He was completely bald with mange, starved near death, heartworm positive, and his ears and tail had frostbite. The shelter cut a heavy chain off his neck when he was turned in. Luckily Splinter's intelligence and will to live kept him alive. His stomach was full of the skeletons of mice and rats that he was forced to hunt to stay alive since his 'family' neglected to feed him. He was barely able to stand or lift his head when he was rescued. It's taken months of loving care, blood transfusions, and a lot of medical intervention to bring him back to life. He is now looking for a patient dog-lover to take him under their wing and give him the love and care he was deprived of during his first ten years of life. And, due to his previous lack of care '| he will eat anything and everything; and he is not fully housebroken. However, he can now play ball for an hour and LOVES female shepherds. He has no idea what to do about stairs in a home and he gets along best with other gentle-natured larger dogs. He is wonderful with people. If you can help with his medical bills, (anything will help) please visit: https://www.youcaring.com/pal-s-place-rescue-393713 To meet and possibly adopt Splinter, please contact his foster mom Samantha at palsplace1@hotmail.com or 773-615-9864.     Petra is a gorgeous, four-year-old, female brown and white classic tabby with golden eyes looking for a loving guardian. Petra was being fed outside and she was very consistent about showing up at the same place and same time every day. My friend told me about what he thought was a pregnant cat. Turned out she is just well-fed! I went to meet her and took her home (in a trap). When I brought her in to get spayed, I found that she had trapped a couple times before ... so she had already been spayed and micro-chipped. So, I got her vaccines up-dated, and had her re-checked for viruses, and treated for fleas and worms. Petra doesn't have ... (Read More)much use for humans. She likes when they keep her well-fed ... she loves her canned food. And she's very neat and tidy and uses her litter box perfectly. It's a bit insulting, but I think a patient cat-loving person can bring her around to appreciating humans a bit more. Why would someone take in a semi-feral cat? She'll live longer in the great indoors, she is a good friend to my other cats, and she's a no-bother kind of girl ... clean and neat.
