Rescue Me ID: 17-10-18-00345Swifty (female)

American Staffordshire Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Swifty is a beautiful, snuggly sweet, gentle and loving two-year-old, 58-pound, female, chocolate and vanilla pit bull terrier looking for a loving guardian. Swifty is full of kisses and tails wags for all the people she meets. And, if you sit on the floor she'll jump right in your lap for a cuddle session. She was rescued from Chicago Animal Care & Control and is currently living in a foster home in the Shorewood/Joliet area. Swifty is a low-energy girl who enjoys short walks and short spurts of play. She'll play fetch for a little while or go for a short walk around the neighborhood. She prefers longer walks if you take her out of her ... (Read More)own neighborhood. She loves to explore. She is very responsive and loves to learn new things. She already knows the commands sit, down, paw, roll-over and stay. She also enjoys road trips! She's joined her foster mom on six-hour road trips with no issue at all. She is housebroken and crate-trained and stays in her crate when her mom leaves the home. Swifty is great with children and has never shown any aggression at all to a human. She loves loves loves people, but she was never socialized with other animals. So, we are looking for a home with no other pets. She'd love a home with a fenced in yard in a quiet neighborhood. She is sometimes difficult to walk in congested areas because she can be dog-reactive. But, if you just cross the street when you see another dog approaching, that behavior is not a big deal. She's really a home-body happy to love her family and stick to her own fenced-in yard. Swifty is extremely healthy, spayed, micro-chipped, heartworm-tested, and up-to-date on vaccines. To meet and possibly adopt her, please contact her adoption counselor Kat at kbudrean@hotmail.com to meet her. Her adoption fee of $200 benefits the Friends of Chicago Animal Care and Control. She comes complete with professional training to help her transition to her new home. She is currently being fostered in the Shorewood/Joliet, Illinois area. But she can travel up to two hour's distance to meet her potential approved adopter! (Less)

Domestic Cat    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Cats, Not Good w/ Dogs, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Petra is a gorgeous, four-year-old, female brown and white classic tabby with golden eyes looking for a loving guardian. Petra was being fed outside and she was very consistent about showing up at the same place and same time every day. My friend told me about what he thought was a pregnant cat. Turned out she is just well-fed! I went to meet her and took her home (in a trap). When I brought her in to get spayed, I found that she had trapped a couple times before ... so she had already been spayed and micro-chipped. So, I got her vaccines up-dated, and had her re-checked for viruses, and treated for fleas and worms. Petra doesn't have ... (Read More)much use for humans. She likes when they keep her well-fed ... she loves her canned food. And she's very neat and tidy and uses her litter box perfectly. She does enjoy the company of other cats and hangs out with them happily in my house ... until I come in the room. And, then she darts back to her cat tree to hide. It's a bit insulting, but I think a patient cat-loving person can bring her around to appreciating humans a bit more. Why would someone take in a semi-feral cat? She'll live longer in the great indoors, she is a good friend to my other cats, and she's a no-bother kind of girl ... clean and neat. And, she's a challenge for those that enjoy socializing shy cats. Petra is extremely healthy, spayed, up-to-date on rabies and distemper vaccines, micro-chipped, virus-tested negative and treated with revolution for fleas and worms.
